Obituary of Dionisio Negron Martinez

Please share a memory of Dionisio to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Surrounded by his loving family, Dionisio Negron Martinez passed away peacefully in his home at the age 92 on November 3, 2016. Dionisio was born in Morovis, Puerto Rico to Jose Medin Negron and Maria Del Carmen Martinez. As a young man Dionisio served his country in World War II. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army he returned to his hometown in Puerto Rico where he married his wife Eladia "Linda" Negron and in 1946 they began their family and a lifelong journey together. In 1968 they moved to Vineland, NJ where Dionisio worked at the Jordan Clothing Factory and the Crown Clothing Factory until his retirement. Throughout his life he was an active member of the Spanish Catholic Center and Divine Mercy Parish. In addition to serving the church, Dionisio enjoyed his days gardening, playing dominoes, and spending time with his family. Although he was a quiet and reserved man, he joked often and had a uniquely resounding sneeze that always made his family laugh. Dionisio was preceded by his son, Ramon Negron, and his great-grandson, Joel Cortez. He is survived by his wife Linda and at the time of his passing their love and commitment to each other remained unwavered for over 70 years. Dionisio was a devoted father who's memory lives on in the hearts of his children: Dion Negron and his fiancé Carmen Muniz of FL; Roberto Negron and his wife Arelis of NJ; Marta Negron of NJ; Carmen Negron and her fiancé Edwin Bermudez, of NJ; Naomi Gross and her husband Joseph Gross of CT; Maria Negron of NJ; Louis Negron and his wife Evelyn of FL; and David Negron of NJ. He was the proud grandfather of 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Although he will be truly missed, the sadness of his passing is outshined by the celebration of a man whose mark in life was immeasurable and who's legacy quite remarkable. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30am at Divine Mercy Parish, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 410 S. Eighth Street, Vineland. Dionisio will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Family and friends will be received on Monday evening from 6pm to 9pm at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland and again on Tuesday morning from 9am to 10:15am at the CHURCH. In lieu of flowers the family gratefully asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association 1 Union Street, Suite 301 Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183.
