Obituary of Alvin D. Dohl

Please share a memory of Alvin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alvin D. Dohl of Newfield, NJ passed away on Sunday, November 6th surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born 1968 in Fairless Hills, PA, he was a graduate of Pennsbury High School, Temple University, Widener University, and was employed by SAP America in Newtown Square, PA for the past ten years. Alvin was a devoted and loving husband to wife, Kristin (McManus), and enthusiastic father to his son, Colin. He had an extensive family who cherished every moment with him. Alvin is predeceased by his mother, Joan (Searfoss) Dohl, and his sister, Linda Dohl, of Fairless Hills, PA. Alvin is survived by two sisters, Shari (Tom Lessig) Dohl and Carol (Kevin) Gallagher. His eldest nephew, Kevin (Jennifer Greer) Gallagher, was more like a brother with Alvin having a great influence on his current interests and hobbies. Alvin also had one sister-in-law, Bridget (Jay) (McManus) Sharer, and three brothers-in-law, Brian (Staci) McManus, Brandon (Rose) McManus, and Terrence (Katie) McManus who embraced him into the family of Chuck and Betty (Tolscer) McManus with open arms. Alvin's nine young nieces and nephews along with a great nephew and great niece were spoiled with his attention and kindheartedness. Alvin touched so many people that there was not one person who met him and did not immediately like him. Alvin was often described as a gentle giant because he had the purest heart and always found the best in people. Alvin was eclectic in regard to his interests and friends. He often joked that he took people with him wherever he spent time. Whether it was through other friends, working at past jobs, attending concerts, or a passing conversation; Alvin kept in touch with everyone because he had a genuine interest in their lives. Alvin exuded what it is to truly embrace life and people were drawn to him because of his positivity and joy of existence. Alvin loved his career in human resources because it gave him an opportunity to help people as well as develop new relationships on a daily basis. While always the professional, he was the epitome of being extroverted and easygoing. Anyone who met Alvin quickly learned of his love for the beach, travels around the globe with particular fondness for OBX, expansive knowledge of music and film, pampering of three dogs, as well as his loyalty to the Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers. If you were with him outside of work, you surely shared some whiskey and storytelling. Special thanks go to the University of Penn Abramson Cancer Center and hospital staff for the great care of a great man.
