Obituary of Edward Hovsepian Jr.

Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edward "Pop" Hovsepian, Jr. passed away on January 26, 2025 at the age of 86, surrounded by his family in Vineland, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Hovsepian Sr. and Eunice Hovsepian, as well as his nephew Jeffrey Alyanakian. Pop is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Maria Hovsepian, nee Ianetti. His children; Edward Hovsepian and wife Stephanie Hovsepian, Steven Hovsepian and wife Angela Rodante, Melissa Stasuk and husband Douglas Stasuk, Jr.; his two grandsons, Douglas Edward Stasuk and wife Leanna Stasuk, and Andrew Stasuk and girlfriend Emma Hood; as well as his sister Alice Alyanakian and husband Charles Alyanakian, and his niece Jill Tanenbaum and husband Jay Tannenbaum. Pop was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Upper Darby High School and obtained an undergraduate degree from Temple University. He then enlisted in the US Navy and served from 1960 to 1964, including time spent on the USS Saratoga studying dentistry. Following his naval service he returned to Temple University and obtained his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree in 1968. After working for a local dentist in West Philadelphia, he eventually purchased the dental practice in 1980. Often referred to as "Doc Ed" by his friends and family, he continued to run his own dental practice until he retired at the age of 58. After raising his family in Newtown Square, PA and Brigantine, NJ, he eventually moved to Palm Harbor, FL. Pop enjoyed traveling and cruising with his wife. He always enjoyed spending time with their friends playing cards, bocce, and chair volleyball. He never hesitated to boast his ranking as one of the world's best Crystal Ball video game players. He remained a lifelong Eagles, Phillies, and Sixers fan. He also loved nothing more than watching his two grandsons grow up playing baseball, both of whom he was extremely proud of. Although he loved to tell us when something was "above my pay grade", he will be remembered as someone who cared deeply about providing for his family, which was evident from his hard work and successes throughout the years. For anyone wanting to send their love in the form of a donation, the family asks that you please do so to: Downbeach Coaches vs Cancer, 3092 English Creek Avenue, Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234 (or venmo @Downbeach-CVC). The family will be planning a celebration of Pop's life at a later date in the near future.
