Obituary of William G. Bernhardt Sr.

William G. Bernhardt, Sr. - 82 of Port Norris, NJ passed away on February 7, 2025, in Vineland, NJ.

Bill, as he was known to most, was born to George and Mary Bernhardt on August 27, 1942, in New Brunswick, NJ. As a child his family moved to Newfield, NJ and Bill later attended Vineland High School.

Bill was a professional long distance truck driver for 58 years driving coast to coast for many years until his retirement at age 75. Bill loved traveling throughout the country and had been to every state in North America, including a pleasure cruise to Alaska.

Bill was an avid NASCAR, Phillies and Eagles fan. In their youth he coached his sons in the Vineland Midget Football League.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Eileen Bernhardt of Port Norris; his children, William G. Bernhardt II (Lisa) of Vineland, Kelly Francis (Marty) of Vineland, Hope Angelastro (Chris) of W. Deptford, Holly Ottinger (Chip) of Philadelphia, and Ernie Bernhardt (Megan) of Vineland; sister in-law Denise Sayell of Vineland; brother Mark Bernhardt of Millville; brother in-law George Cowan of Pittsgrove; and sister in-law Carol Bernhardt of Cedarville NJ. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the stepfather to David and Robin Berry, three step grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving first wife of 42 years, Mary Lou Bernhardt; sisters Georgia Cowan, and Mary Kristy Rugerio; brother Bruce Bernhardt; and grandson Dylan Francis.

Family and Friends with be received Friday, February 14th from 9:00am until 11:00am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00am, at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave, Vineland, NJ. Burial will be private.
