James John Halferty, age 93, of Vineland, NJ passed away peacefully at home on February 21, 2025. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 20,1931 (same day as Mickey Mantle), his family eventually moved to Vineland where he graduated from Vineland High School in 1950. He enlisted in the Army and proudly served in the Korean War. After the war, he attended Columbia Business School in Philadelphia, earning an accounting degree. He then went to work at Chatas Glass Company in Vineland as a packer where he worked for 49 years, eventually working his way up to become the president of the company. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (nee Feinberg) of 68 years; his sons, James (Ursula) of Blacksburg VA, Jay (Candy) of Valrico FL, Jon (Vicky) of Roanoke VA, and Jeffrey of Aspen CO; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his brother, Frank Hunsberger; sister, Delores Ploucher and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Barbara Hunsberger and his brother, Joseph Halferty. Jim was a loving husband, father, and grand-father affectionately known as Pop Pop to all. He loved camping with friends, being the life of the party, spending summers at their home in Sky Valley GA, and winters in Florida. He was a member of the Vineland Jaycees, the Korean War Vets, and the Holy Name Society of Saint Francis Parish of Vineland. The family would like to acknowledge and thank all the friends and family that assisted Jim in the last few years. In lieu of flowers consider making a donation to the Disabled American Veterans or a charity of your choice. A Memorial service will be arranged at a future date.
