Obituary of Jerald Guadalupe Hernandez

Please share a memory of Jerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jerald "Jerry" Guadalupe (Hernandez) 56, was born on September 23, 1966, in Newark, NJ. He passed peacefully on August 3, 2023, surrounded by all his beloved family at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

Jerry was a good son, husband, brother, Pop Pop, uncle, nephew, cousin, in-law, friend, and military comrade to all. Even in the silent struggles, which he suffered with pain from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (having served in Desert Storm, Kuwait) and in the loss of his son, Benji, Jerry continued to raise his grandbaby, and helped us with household and vehicle repairs up to his last days. He was truly as one would say "a trooper." He gave until he finally said "I'm tired." It's ok, Bro… you can go. We will all someday take the same journey. GO in Peace, and so he did.

Jerry is predeceased by his father Ismael Guadalupe, his son Benjamin Guadalupe, and his brothers David Guadalupe and Peter Guadalupe. He is survived by his wife Janet I Guadalupe-Pantoja, his mother Esther V. Hernandez, his sons Jerald Guadalupe Jr. and Christian Guadalupe, his grandchildren Christian Jr., Joshua, Jamir, Joel, Justice, Kaylani, Benjamin, and Briella. He is the sixth child of eight siblings: Elisa Guadalupe (Layton), Esther Guadalupe (Motta), Ismael Guadalupe Jr., Daniel Guadalupe (Nancy), David(deceased), Peter (deceased);(Lourdes), and Irene Guadalupe. He also leaves to mourn his absence many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and military comrades near and far who all loved him very much.

In his military life, Jerry was a Dietician. He found his true passion as an Electronics Technician, which he eventually pursued when he re-enlisted. After his honorable medical discharge, he continued his passion in auto mechanics and tinkering in repairing household electronics.

His greatest LOVE of ALL were his grandbabies; they were his pride and joy. He was the epitome of "the Best Pop Pop a child can ever have." For those of us who lived close to Jerry, he was our "do it all" person. When it broke down, you "call Jerry." We will miss you not because you're no longer around to fix it, but because WE TRULY LOVE YOU!
