Obituary of Charles P. Land

Charles (Charlie) Platt Land, 75, of Pittsgrove, NJ, passed away on November 10, 2023 in the Vineland Veterans Memorial Home.
 

Charles Land was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Herbert Land and Jeanette Platt on March 1, 1948. He went to Paulsboro High School and then went on to join the United States Navy in 1965-1969. He was an ABE 3 on the USS Essex CV-9 in catapults and arresting gear. Charles worked as a Pipefitter/Millwright for DuPont Chambersworks in Deepwater, NJ for 33 years. He was a leader for 9 years in the Royal Rangers with Penns Grove Assembly.
 

Charles was well known for his servant's heart and loved to help people whenever he could. He was a huge history buff, full of facts and information. If you knew Charles well, he was quite the foodie who also loved watching Judge Judy. Charles enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. His biggest joy in this world was being a Pop-Pop.
 

Charles is survived by his siblings Steve Land, Bruce Land, and Linda Armrod, children Robert Land, Kevin Land, Charlene Land, and Heidi Land, grandchildren Brandon Land, Kristi Popecki, Tiffany Crim, Austin Popecki, Antonio Mendez, and Haley Mendez, great-grandchildren Hannah Crim and Adelyn Crim along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson Jesse Popecki.
 

Funeral services will be held at Salem County Veterans Cemetery 719 Route 45 Pilesgrove, NJ on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Donnie Davis of Amazing Grace officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Operation Safe Haven 1664 Delsea Drive Franklinville, NJ 08322.
