Obituary of Karen Gambino

Karen Denise (Conahan) Gambino, 60 of Atlantic City, NJ, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018, under hospice care. She was born in Atlantic City, raised in Vineland, and later moved back to Atlantic City. Karen was a graduate of Vineland High School, Class of 1975. Karen was a seamstress for many years at her grandfather's clothing factory, American Sportswear, in Vineland. She also worked for Kimble Glass Company. After moving to Atlantic City, she was employed as a security guard in a number of casinos. Karen liked spending time with her friends, walking on the boardwalk and attending concerts. She loved animals, but especially cats. She raised a number of cats through the years. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Sara (Chinnici) Conahan; and her sisters, Margaret Leibrock, Kathleen Conahan and Geraldine Conahan. Karen is survived by her nephews, James DiNunzio and his wife, Lisa of Vineland and William Conahan of New York. Also surviving are two nieces, Justine Johnson of Florida and Victoria Leibrock of Millville and her great-niece, Skye Leibrock of Vineland. Her life-long friend, Jerri (Halpin) Trevino, who helped care for her during her illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11am at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. Karen will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Family and friends will be received on Friday morning from 10am to 11am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Co. S.P.C.A. 1244 N. Delsea Dr. Vineland, NJ 08360.
