John Harold Engstrom, 81, loving husband, father and pop pop, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, December 6, 2018.
John graduated from Glassboro High School in 1955 and worked at Kontes Glass, where he met his wife Betty. He joined the Air Force in 1956 as an Airman 1st Class, and was stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in Calif. Upon returning to New Jersey, he worked over 45 years as a furnace engineer for Kimble Glass/Owens Illinois in both Vineland and Perrysburg, Ohio.
John will always be remembered for his kind and generous spirit, his love of family and friends, his life serving God and the Church, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, his role as mentor and scout master of Vineland BS Troop #37. He enjoyed family gatherings, taking photos, spending time in the great outdoors and giving back to his community. A life well lived.
He is predeceased by his parents, Harold and Catherine Engstrom and his brother, Carl Engstrom.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Jean (Tharp) Engstrom; his children, Pamela and Albert Pellegrini , Karen and Michael Bauman, David and Jill Engstrom, Jennifer and Aaron Yezbick; his brother, James Engstrom (Marlene); his sister in law, Barbara Cornatzer (Russ) ; his brother in law, Alfred Tharp (Marilyn); his sister in law, Janny Engstrom; his seven grandchildren, Albert, Joshua, Alyssa, Alec, Benjamin, Leah and Colin and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland, NJ followed by a funeral service at 8pm.
