Obituary of Hector Bertoia

Hector Bertoia, 92, died Saturday, December 8, 2018 peacefully at home. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Santiago and Teresa Bertoia, he came to America in 1957 at the age of thirty to begin a career at Wheaton's Glass as a mold designer.
There, he developed an interest in antique glass and became an authority on antique bottles, historical flasks and fruit jars. His passion and enjoyment were traveling with his family to antique shows throughout the country buying and selling antique bottles.
After his retirement, he continued to pursue his interest in antiques to art glass and for many years had a weekly booth at the Black Angus in Adamstown, PA and was an original dealer at the famous Atlantique City Antique Show.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially his yearly fly-fishing trips to Patagonia, Argentina with his son Bill. He loved traveling, earning the nickname "Mr. International," with several yearly trips to Buenos Aires to visit family, friends, and antique shops. Hector will always be remembered for his kind and generous spirit, a true gentleman, and his devoted love of family, fellow collectors and friends.
He leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Ofelia, his two daughters-in-law, Jeanne and Trina; grandchildren, Lauren Costanza (Joseph), Michael (Erika), Nina, Lani Bertoia and Monica (Brett) Butter, and his five great grandchildren, Angelina and Ava Bertoia, Gianna and Madeline Costanza, and Aldo William Bertoia.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, William and Richard.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 1pm to 2pm, followed by a funeral service at 2pm at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. Burial will be private. Memories, thoughts and prayers may be extended to the family by visiting dlfuneral.com.
