I had no idea of Father Gary Hayes' passing. The Hayes family, especially Gary's parents, Russ, and Alfia, were close friends of my family. At last, Father Gary is enjoying eternal happiness with Jesus in Heaven. Gary must be so happy. We always remember him as a devoted priest and kind man.

So sad.. Gary was a friend from our times in Becket Hall. He always kept his darkest secret, and I admire his decision to talk about that secret. He would come to our house for a visit in the 80's and we would sit and talk for hours. We may have been apart for many years, but our friendship, and mutual admiration were never very far from each other.

I do not know who will be reading this. But it is intended as a thank you for father Gary Hayes. Thank you Gary for your support and encouragement when I was fighting my horrific demons and memories from the church. Thank you Gary for eating with us and my family. Thank you Gary for bringing over true members of the church to help me in my healing. If you're not too busy in your new life Then I will call upon you for help as I always have. God speed Gary

I was blessed to be there the day Gary was ordained, and many other 'firsts' while KY was his home. My heart is full of memories, Gary was my priest, friend, teacher and oh yes the 'The Italian Cook' that loved my kitchen.... there was always a delicious meal when Gary came to cook. He taught me Italian Cuisine and of course the correct wine to serve with each dish....
Gary may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts! I pray for your healing and peace. Try not to cry because it's over, smile because HE happened. God has welcomed him into his kingdom....
Rest in peace my loving friend!

RIP Father Gary. I still vividly recall life in Millville's third ward in the 60s with the entire Hayes and many other outstanding neighborhood families. Gary was a true friend and elementary school classmate as Anthony pointed out earlier. Over the years we didn't see each other as our life paths never really crossed, so it was a real "homecoming" two years ago when many members of the 1966 eighth grade graduating class from St. Marys, including Gary, attended a reunion where we all reconnected after many, many years. I am truly grateful for that night, and meeting with Gary and other graduates at a follow-up luncheon later that year. It was truly inspiring, almost like we never left the old neighborhood and the great times we had.
Our condolences and prayers are offered to Gary and the entire Hayes family and friends. And again, may Gary be at peace. God be with you.

I had attended elementary and high school with Gary. We were in 4H and scouts together. I played Baseball with Gary on the sandy lot next to his house. The only time I saw Gary after high school was (1970) at the St. Mary Magdalen 50th year school reunion. (2016). I was troubling to learn that Gary passed away, so suddenly. Even though I did not spend any time with Gary in his adult life ,
surely, I will miss him. We can only hope and pray that Gary is in peace and love with His Lord. Vivat Jesus,
