Carl "Pop-Pop" Carano aka Pippy, went to his happy hunting ground on November 29, 2012 at the New Jersey Veterans Home in Vineland, NJ. Carl helped to protect this country by serving in the U.S. Army in the 11th Airborne Division. While serving, he was on the Victory Division Le Cleric Team in Germany. Until his illness, he yearly attended the Airborne Reunion in South Carolina. He was employed for Imperial Distributors as a truck driver for 20+ years. Carl worked for ten years as a private contractor for the U.S. Postal Service. He also owned and operated Pippy's Antiques for approximately for 10 years. He was a member of The Diamond Social Club, The Landisville Social Club, Snug Harbor Hunting Club, and for many years had the "Always-Rest" Hunting Club in his garage, where he was the Top Chef at the "Road-Kill Caf". Carl enjoyed cooking, baking, hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. He had a passion for playing cards (gambling), picking wild mushrooms, and visiting family and friends in his pick-up truck. He also had fond memories of raising his chickens and pigs, making head-cheese and his famous deer sausage. Carl was predeceased by his parents, Ivan and Eleanor (Fulves) Carano. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Janice (Witte). He will be missed by his daughters, Stephanie Callahan and her husband, Harry; Justine Ciancaglini and her husband Enio; Bernadette Kline and her husband John; and Suzette. His brother, Ronn Carano and wife, Judy; his sisters, Emily (Carano) Adams and Sandra (Carano) Panzino. His grandchildren Tierney, Tyler, Shelby, Austin, Brianna, Dominic and Jason. His cousins, nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, and brother-in-laws. His boy, Carmie (his dog). His devoted friend, Rita Beu. At the family's request, services will be private. Arrangements are by DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland.
