Robin is my oldest and dearest friend. The sister I never had, I was 6 and she was 8 when we met. We grew up during an unplugged era ....no internet, cell phones or scheduled play dates. I would knock "Is Robin there?". We had a simple beautiful childhood. We walked to the corner store for candy and played in our yards. One special memory I have that Robin and I spoke about a few years ago. The summer after we met our neighbor had a bible camp on her front porch. We learned bible stories, songs, did crafts and had milk and cookies. We were taught the meaning of and memorised John 3:16. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son , that whosoever believith in him shall not perish but have everlasting life". Then we were sat in a circle and told to close our eyes. We were all asked that if we wanted to take Jesus into our hearts on that day to raise our hands. With my eyes tightly closed I raised my hand and took Jesus into my heart. A few years ago Robin and I were going down memory lane and this day came up. On this day nearly 45 years later we found out that we both had raised our hands to accept Jesus into our hearts. I was 6 and she was 8. I remember what an unbelievable feeling we both had when we realised that we both did it on the same day. So many memories , so many stories...our friendship grew with much laughter and withstood the tears. She was by my side on my wedding day and came and rejoiced at the birth of each of my children. She held me as I said goodbye to my grandmother. As I write this my grandmother is by myside for today is her birthday. Not that long ago she told me she was proud of me and that i was a very good mother and that i had great kids. It truly didnt matter if it had been a while since the last time we had spoken or seen one another. Living a state away and having life get in the way ....We always were able to pick up just as we had left it......with me being 6 and she being 8. Robin I will love and miss you until the day I join you in heaven. I will cherish every memory, every kindness you showed me and every lesson I learned from you. You were a true friend my entire life. My heart is full of sorrow for Laurie and Mrs Magargal of whom I love dearly. Please know that Robin's kindness lives on in all that knew her and loved her.
