Valentino "Val" or "Shorty" Capaldi, 83 of Vineland, died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at his late residence and surrounded by his family. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he was a resident of Vineland for over 50 years. He was a truck driver and drove for Commercial Fuel, Coralluzzo Trucking, and LoBiondo Trucking. Shorty was a member of The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, member and past commander of the American Legion, member of the AARP, member of St. Francis of Assisi Church , where he was an usher, past member of the First Church of the Nazarene and a member of the NJ National Guard. Shorty enjoyed going to the shore, collecting Hess Trucks, was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, collected coins, hats and stamps. He was a loving and caring father and grandfather. He is predeceased by 4 brothers, John, Joseph, Henry and Carmen Capaldi, and 2 sisters, Eleanor Capaldi and Rose Hamilton. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Theresa (Braxmeier) Capaldi of Vineland 2 daughters: Denise Capaldi and husband Luis Desideri of Vineland Dawn Capaldi of Vineland 3 granddaughters: Michelina, Tiffiny, and Lauren Ballin all of Vineland A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday at 10am at Divine Mercy Parish, St. Francis of Assisi Church, Vineland. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville. Friends will be received on Friday evening from 6pm to 8pm and again on Saturday morning from 8:30am to 9:30am at the DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S Lincoln Ave., Vineland.
