It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ploumou Kanos, who passed away on Wednesday, June 17th 2020. Ploumou was born on April 9, 1936 in Chios, Greece to Ioannis and Efrosini (Doulis) Gouvakis. She moved to Montreal, Canada where she married her husband Dimitrios Kanos in 1961. Ploumou worked in a factory for much of her time in Canada, before moving to New Jersey with her family in 1968. In New Jersey, she worked in various locations, finally retiring from Veterans Memorial Home in 1990. Ploumou was a gentle and kind woman; a dedicated wife, a beloved mother, and caring grandmother. Ploumou loved listening and dancing to Greek music. Ploumou also loved to cook and entertain for family and friends. She was adored by her children and grandchildren, whom she treasured more than anything. Her bubbly and fun personality would light up the room, making those around her constantly laugh and smile. She made people feel incredibly lucky to have her in their life. Ploumou will be sadly missed by her beloved husband of 59 years, Dimitrios; two children, Panagiota and Emmanuel (Sophia); grandchildren, Kaliopi, George (Beth), and Dimitrios (Sara); her great grandchildren, Emilia, Delaina, and Emmanuel; and her brother, Mathio (Vasiliki). Ploumou was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, George, Panagioti, Kostadinos, Evangelos, and Petro; sisters, Manio and Maria; and son-in-law, Emmanuel Papamihalakis. Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland. Memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Church, 430 W. Wheat Rd. Vineland NJ 08360
