Obituary of Luz E. Torres Rivera

Please share a memory of Luz to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On June 19th, 2020, at the age of 40, Luz Enid Torres-Rivera (Amores) of Vineland, NJ, went home to God. Luz was born to Ismael E Torres and Jacqueline Cruz on August 27th, 1979, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. Amores was raised and lived in Vineland, where she attended Vineland High School. After graduating, Luz attended Post University and subsequently became a substitute teacher in the Vineland School System, helping teach youths of Vineland. She was a head teacher for Pre-school at ABC Learning Academy. Luz loved teaching her little students, which she lovingly referred to as "Mi Pollitos." As a child, Luz was also known as Amores to close family and friends. It was a name given to her by her parents because of the loving manner she expressed while as a baby and small child. Amores means Love. Luz was a carefree and tenacious child, never scared of life nor of getting hurt in the pursuit of a good time. Luz and her sister Leamsy were inseparable during their childhood, wherever Leamsy was, Luz was very close behind. She loved the summers as a child because it meant a trip to Puerto Rico to visit family, eat great food and have more adventures on the family farm, whether chasing chickens or riding horses Luz would always find a way to have a good time. Luz met her husband, Miguel A Rivera, in 2000. They were together for 20 years. They married in 2001 and together created a healthy, beautiful family of six children. In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Luz also proudly loved worshiping God. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering, tremendous faith in God, which she enthusiastically shared with those who surrounded her and willing to listen. Luz touched many lives with her straight forward, no time for the nonsense way of getting things done. Never one to hold her tongue, her honesty and caring nature were revered by friends because they knew what they were getting, the real deal, the truth, good, bad, or ugly. She was only with us for 40 years, but she indelibly left her mark on the lives of many friends, family, and students. Luz had many wonderful traits, but the top of the list was her commitment and love to her family, she would do anything and everything for her family.
