James Howard Lewis, 67, of Vineland, New Jersey went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 14, 2020 after an extended illness. He was born on March 9, 1953 in Long Branch, New Jersey to the late William Henry Lewis, Sr. and Adelaide Mildred Corrin. Thanks to his cousin, Larry Corrin, James Lewis found the love of his life Diane Stringer. Later, he became the proud husband of Diane Stringer-Lewis and loved her without reservation for forty years. He enjoyed their life in ministry together at Glory Tabernacle Church. James literally did everything with his beloved wife, including worship, family time, and vacations. James received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Tarkio College in Missouri. He was an employee of the State of New Jersey Judiciary Department as a Master Probation Officer for twenty-seven years. He retired in 2014.
James was predeceased by his parents, William Henry Lewis Sr. and Adelaide Mildred Lewis; brothers, William H. Jr and Robert Lewis, and granddaughter, Mea Lewis.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, devoted wife, Diane S. Lewis of Vineland NJ.; sister, Sandra L. Bazemore Margate, FL.; brother, Ronald/Maeble Lewis, Red Bank, NJ; three sister-in laws, Elizabeth (Joseph),Vineland, NJ, Delores, Vineland, NJ, Irene (Ronald), Millville, NJ; sons, Jason (Daniell), Newport, NJ, Matthew (Georgia), Omaha, NE, Louis Sr (Margot), Barto, PA, Damon (Yajaira), East Windsor, NJ, and daughter, Charmaine (Michael) Vineland, NJ; 18 grandchildren, Amber, Nicholas, Tianna, Jacob, Ian, Micah, Noelle, Eva, Theo, Madison, Louis II, Niyel, Mykai, Kaiya, Damon R., Mikayla, Michael, and Myles; seven godchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 9am to 11am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11am at Glory Tabernacle Church, 1018 Buckshutem Rd., Bridgeton, NJ 08302. Burial will follow in Laurel Lawn Cemetery, Bridgeton. Arrangements are by DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland.
