Obituary of Josephine Garcia

On October 14, 2020, Josephine Garcia, 89, went to rest in the Lord's arms. She was born in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, loving daughter of Serafin Oquendo and Herminia Arroyo. Josephine moved to Brooklyn, New York where she met her husband, Felipe Garcia. She went on to have four children, Felipe (Phillip) Garcia Jr, David V Garcia, Ruth N Felty (Garcia) and Raquel Garcia de Acosta whom she loved with all her heart. She was a talented seamstress, amazing cook, and wonderful gardener. But her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and daughter of the Lord. She was a loyal member of the Seventh Day Adventist Spanish Church and enjoyed helping those in need through the Dorcas program. She is survived by her sister, Maria Oquendo who resides in Vineland, NJ; her children and many nieces and nephews. She has seven wonderful grandchildren, Phillip Allen, Christopher Brian, Matthew Aaron, Raymond, Michael Anthony, Alysha Raquel and Nicholas Brandon. Before her passing, she was blessed enough to meet her three precious great grandchildren, Raymond Jr., Alora Grace, and Levi Michael. Words fall short of expressing the sorrow that is felt by those who love and miss her. A private celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland followed by interment at Siloam Cemetery, Vineland. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation be made to the Alzheimer's/Dementia foundation.
