Nelson Perez passed peacefully on to his heavenly home on Wednesday morning, October 28, 2020, while at home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 27, 1954 to Hortencio Perez and Paula Serrano Perez and later the family moved to Astoria, Queens, NY.
In the early 1970's he would come to Vineland many times to visit with his brother, Rev. Eusebio Serrano where he met and became friends with a young girl; who unbeknownst to them, would later become his wife.
Margarita "Margie" and Nelson started dating in July 1978 and married in January 1981. They were blessed with 3 children and 7 grandchildren.
Nelson had his rough edges, personal struggles; yet he was kind and generous. His family and friends will remember him as a man with a heart for others; always willing to extend a helping hand to his neighbor or anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife, Margarita (Rivera) Perez; sons, Antonio N. and Jonathan Perez; daughter Jacqueline E. Lugo (Ronald); daughters-in-law, Erika Perez and Veronica Perez; grandchildren, Emily, Ava, Jeremiah, Alyssa, Jaslene, Ariana and Erielle; his siblings, Rev. Eusebio Serrano (Ada); Luis Perez (Alba) of Va. Beach; Sonia Rodriguez of NY, Neida Andrade of Fla. and uncle, Alberto Serrano (Gloria) of Fla. and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nelson was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Neftali Molina and sister, Nidia Pedroza.
Thank you to the Bayada Hospice family for their care and support these past few months, most especially to Nurse Kellie and Aide Stacy for their tenderness and compassion. Also, thank you to everyone who kept us in prayer during these difficult months and extended their love and support. May the Lord bless you abundantly.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, November 2, 2020 from 5pm to 7pm, with funeral services at 6:30pm at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. Final disposition will be private. Masks and social distancing will be required at the funeral home.
