Obituary of Fredrick L. Hurban, Sr.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Fred L Hurban Sr, who suddenly passed at his home on December 4, 2020 at the age of 85. He was born on December 11th 1934 in Dorothy, NJ to the late Joseph and Lillian Zubek Hurban.
Fred was a well-travelled and successful person throughout his life with many talents. He went to school at Vineland High School and graduated in 1952. Fred was a talented athlete playing baseball and football while at Vineland High School. Fred went on to earn a degree in aeronautical engineering from Indiana Institute of Technology in 1960, where he also played baseball and soccer. Fred proudly served in the US Army and was in the Korean War from 1953 to 1955.
During his life, he was an avid businessman and inventor. Fred formed NRG Products, which manufactured energy saving equipment and held 2 patents in the energy saving field, which he was very proud of. Fred was also the V.P. of Bestline Products opening offices in the United States, Canada, Japan, and Venezuela.
Fred then went on to work in the insurance industry. Fred and his wife Marie started an insurance business FLH Associates and proudly worked it until 2011 when he retired. Fred has won numerous awards and honors over the years too many to list. Fred was very proud of his accomplishments. He enjoyed many hobbies including traveling, drawing, crossword puzzles and hunting. Fred was especially proud of his record-book buck he harvested while hunting with his son in Wisconsin.
He has always said he has traveled all over the world and has done everything he has wanted to do during his lifetime. Fred's favorite saying was "I lived a life, NOT JUST EXISTED ONE." Fred was involved in many organizations over the years including the Jay-Cees, American Legion, Snug Harbor Gun Club, and the Pancoast Mill Sportsman Club. In his younger years, he enjoyed coaching little league baseball. Fred was also an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. Most of all, he enjoyed having a Cuban cigar with his son, Fred Jr and enjoyed his daughter-in-law, Tabby's chocolate chip cookies.
He enjoyed most of all playing with his grandchildren, Zach, Samantha, and their dog Bruni. He particularly enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and growing up through the years. He was so very proud of his grandkids and their accomplishments. Fred most importantly enjoyed spending time with his wife Marie for the last 57 years. Fred and Marie enjoyed life to the fullest each and every day. They never went to bed without a kiss and saying "I love you and I'll see you in the morning" throughout their 57 years of marriage.
Fred is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Marie (Chirico) Hurban; his loving son and daughter in law, Fred Jr and Tabitha (DeMore) Hurban; loving sons, Michael Hurban and Jimmy Hurban; beloved grandchildren, Zachary and Samantha Hurban, Christopher and Gregory Hurban; brother, Eddie (Joan) Hurban; nephews, Ronald Farabella, Jr, Eddie Hurban and Karl Hurban; loving niece, Paula Farabella and Karin Peszka and sister in law, Gerry Farabella. He was predeceased by his sister, Josephine Badarracco; son, Danny Hurban and great nephew, Ryan Farabella.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S Lincoln Ave. Vineland, NJ from 4pm to 6:30pm, followed by a funeral service from 6:30pm to 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in Fred's memory to South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter 1244 N Delsea Vineland, NJ 08360.
