Shirley Laura Renovitch
Vineland - Shirley Renovitch died in her daughter's home in the care of family on November 14th, 2020, in Vineland, New Jersey, after a long struggle with dementia. She was 97.
Shirley was born in Beacon, New York, to Harold and Josephine Post in January of 1923. She left school after completing 6th grade in order to work and help support her seven younger siblings as a result of the hardships of the Great Depression.
Shirley married Andrew Renovitch in October of 1943. She lived in Beacon with her parents while Andrew served as a soldier in World War II. They raised their three children in Beacon. Shirley worked in the cafeteria at her childrens' school and later at the Department of Motor Vehicle, from which she retired in the 80s.
Shirley and her family were active, lifelong members of Fishkill Baptist Church in NY. Shirley and Andrew joined Bay Ridge Community Church in Florida upon retirement.
Shirley was a kind and caring person. She enjoyed traveling with her family. The family spent summers at the shore in NJ when her children were young. A trip to Hawaii to visit her son, Mark, when he was stationed there was a highlight for her. Shirley and Andrew also enjoyed vacationing in Bermuda. They retired to St. Petersburg, Florida. Shirley and Andrew were actively involved in their retirement community there.
Mrs. Renovitch is survived by her brothers Kenneth and Stephen; sisters June and Charlene; and grandchildren Matthew, James, Kristi, Emily, Joy, David, and Charles. Shirley is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Andrew, son Mark and daughter Andrea; brother Harold, and sisters Adelaide and Roberta. Shirley's daughter Jan died shortly after her.
A combined memorial service for Shirley and her two daughters, Andrea Slack and Jan Renovitch, will be held on April 17, 2021 at 2pm at the Malaga Camp Tabernacle in Vineland, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the USO.
