Please share a memory of Lt. Keith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Keith Young, 49, of Vineland, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on March 26, 2021. Born and raised in Newton, MA, Keith was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Young, and is survived by his father, Robert Young of Land O Lakes, FL; his two daughters, Lilliana and Nicolette Young of Swedesboro, NJ; his devoted wife, Jennifer Young and stepdaughters, Hannah and Haley Tamagni of Vineland, NJ; his parents-in-law, Kathy and Don Bakos of Millville, NJ; his sister-in-law, Jaime and her husband Joe Gaetano of Vineland, NJ; his sisters and brothers, Linda and her husband Don DeVore of Wrentham, MA, Kevin and his wife Kate of Madison, NH, Lisa and her husband George McMains of Norfolk, MA, and Kenny and his wife Jennifer of Framingham, MA; his nieces and nephews, DeeDee DeVore, David and his wife Jessica DeVore, Shaylin and Owen McMains, and Julia and Jemma Gaetano; as well as his faithful companion, Gizzmo. Keith enjoyed spending time with family. He had an easy way of making people laugh and was forever the comedian, even at the expense of his own embarrassment. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hiking, camping, fishing, and boating, and he especially loved exploring new places with his daughters. Despite living in New Jersey for more than 20 years, Keith remained a passionate Boston sports fan. He was a lover of music and never turned down an opportunity to attend concerts; he saw his favorite band, U2, in person more than a dozen times. Professionally, Keith's dream was to become a police officer; perhaps that speaks loudest to his desire to help people. He earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Boston College. He started as an EMT and became a private investigator before joining the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) in 2001 as a member of the 122nd State Police Class. He served the state with pride and commitment for nearly 20 years in various assignments throughout the Division. Most recently, he achieved the rank of Lieutenant serving as the Unit Head of the Polygraph Unit, High Tech Crime Bureau. A memorial service honoring Keith will be held Saturday, April 3rd. Visitors are kindly invited to pay their respects starting at 11:00am with a livestream service beginning at 1:00pm. If attending in person, please follow New Jersey social distancing guidelines and wear a mask. Services are under the direction of the NJSP and the DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S.
