Obituary of Lawrence S. Hackney
Please share a memory of Lawrence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Today, with heavy hearts and great sadness, we mourn the loss of one of the world's greatest guitarist, that most never came to know. On June 4th, 2021, Lawrence (Lance) S. Hackney gained his wings and went to be with the Lord, where he always knew he would be. Lawrence was loved by everyone for his good nature, kind heart, love of music, incredible smile, and that unforgettable laugh. He leaves behind his loving mother, Annette Scarpa Charlton, his pain in the ass brother, Ralph Hackney, his sister-in-law, Kim Freeman, and his three sons, who he loved with all his heart, Noah, Nathaniel, and Charles. Lawrence will be remembered as a true rock legend by his nieces and nephews, Ralph, Erin, Brittany, Ryan, Tara, Melissa, Sean & Kurt Hackney and their Families, Donna & Jeff Riggs and Deanna McGuinness. He also leaves behind his great nieces, a great nephew, many other family and friends, and his K-9 nephew, Jax, who he always snuck treats. Lawrence is predeceased by his father, Ralph Hackney, brother, Wayne Hackney, sister, Joan Mason, brother, Harry Hackney, and stepfather, Bill Charlton.
A longtime resident of Vineland, Lawrence had a diverse career beginning in the automotive industry and ending in IT. He will most be remembered for his God-given gift of musical talent. Lawrence was an amazing guitarist and musician, which always remained his true passion...along with '68 GTO's. Family and friends will be received on Saturday June 12, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:00pm followed by a celebration of life 2:00pm at DeMarco - Luisi Funeral Home. Friends and family are encouraged to dress casual, as we all know T shirts & shorts is what Lawrence would prefer. If you would like to share your memories of Lawrence or play something in his memory at the service, you are more than welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lawrence's name at musicforautism.org and always remember to rock on!
