LUCILLE HECKMAN. 104
After a long and wonderful life, Lucille (De Falco) Heckman passed away peacefully on June 4th, 2021. She was born on February 1, 1917 in Vineland, NJ to Anthony and Mary (Caterina) DeFalco. She graduated from Vineland High School in 1934 and Cooper Hospital School of Nursing in 1937. She enjoyed her career as an RN, working for many years at Newcomb Hospital, donating her time to the Red Cross and Hospicecare, and was the first and only nurse at Cumberland County College.
Lucille spent many happy years in her beach front house in Ocean City, and her winters in Florida. She was very active her whole life playing basketball in high school, bowling, golfing, bicycling and walking. Sports was something she really enjoyed, and never missed an Eagles or Sixers game. She loved to travel, read and was an active bridge player until she was 101. Most of all, she loved her family and they loved her because she was loving, strong, independent, funny and would always tell you what she thought.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Wilbur "Bill" Heckman; her son, William "Billy" Heckman; her sister, Marie (Edward) D'Ippolito and her niece, Darrlyn (D'Ippolito) Mann.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Cyndee and Dr Joseph Bernardini; her grandchildren, Danielle Heckman Hughes (Kevin), Kirsten Heckman Dillman (Scott), Dr Brad Bernardini (Marianne), Matthew and Adam Bernardini (Nicole Gontowski); her great grandchildren, Nicolle, Tara and Sean Hughes, Alex and Drew Dillman and Chase and Braden Bernardini; her niece, Denise D'Ippolito Radziwill (Walt) and her children, Brian (Erica), Elise (Phil) Tavares and Matthew; special nephew, Chris Radziwill; niece, Debbie (Jon) Simonson.
