Jean Vannini, 97 of Buena Vista, died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the SJH Hospice Inpatient Center, Bridgeton. She was born Gina Ricci in 1915 after her parents, Adelfina and Egisto, immigrated from Italy. As a young girl Jean worked on the family farm until the age of 16. She then went to work as a tailor making military uniforms and men's suits in clothing factories in the Vineland area for the next 46 years. At age 27, she married her childhood sweetheart and neighbor, Mario. With her love of music and joy of dance, Jean was the sunshine at gatherings of family and friends. Her and Mario traveled from NJ to CA to visit places of interest and reunited with family during trips to Italy. Jean often visited her daughter and family in Asia, including four trips to Hong Kong and the celebration of her 80th birthday in Jakarta, Indonesia. She was a true Philly fanatic and enjoyed bus trips to AC. Her days were always brighter when her grandchildren, nieces and nephews came to visit the family farm. She is predeceased by her husband, Mario Vannini, older twin brothers, Peter and Paul Ricci and younger brother, Joseph Ricci. She is survived by her daughter, Delphine and husband Rick Cox of Manasquan, NJ; granddaughter, Rique and her husband Robert Rella of Charlotte, NC; grandson, Tom and his wife Jessica and great grandson, Aiden of Brick, NJ; granddaughter, Tara Cox of Brick, NJ and her loving extended family of nieces and nephews from both the Ricci and Vannini families. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, March 2nd at 11am at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, St. Michael's Church, Minotola. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Victories Cemetery, Landisville. Friends will be received on Saturday at the church from 10am to 11am. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please donate to SJH Hospice Inpatient Center, 333 Irving Ave., Bridgeton, NJ 08302 to honor the memory of Jean.
