Carlo Nani, 92 of Buena, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Vineland, he was a lifelong resident of the Buena area. Carlo was a graduate of Vineland High School, class of 1938. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army Air Corps, where he was an airplane gunnery instructor at Loredo Army Air Base, in Loredo Texas. While in the service he attained the rank of Staff Sgt. and received numerous service awards. Carlo was employed by the Buena Regional School District as a maintenance supervisor for 25 years and in his earlier years, he worked at Shapiro Clothing Company and Buzzie's Market in Minotola. Carlo was an avid bird hunter and gardener. He attained much success in the area of grafting fruit trees. He also enjoyed delivering fruits and vegetables that he grew in his garden to his family and friends. He loved playing the harmonica and enjoyed writing in his journal. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, who was dedicated to his family. Carlo was a member of the American Legion Post #270 in Buena Boro, a member of the Buena Boro Democrat Club and was an active member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, St. Michael's Church, Minotola, where he was a past member of the parish council. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph Nani and Julia (Sartori) Nani, 2 sisters, Lucille D'Alesandro and Margaret Maiatico, and 3 brothers, Romeo, Mario and Peter. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alice (Sanguinetti) Nani of Buena 1 daughter: Sharon Ricci and husband John of Buena 2 grandsons: Christopher Ricci of Vineland Ryan Ricci of Buena Sister-in-law: Clara Nani of Vineland and many beloved nieces and nephews A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday at 10am at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, St. Michael's Church, Minotola. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Vineland. Friends will be received on Thursday evening from 6pm to 8pm at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S Lincoln Ave., Vineland, and again on Friday morning at the CHURCH from 9am to 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 104 Catawba Ave. Newfield, NJ 08344.
