Jose Luis De La Torre, 60, of Vineland, New Jersey, went to be with Our Heavenly Father on November 9, 2021 in Vineland. He was the beloved husband of Ibet De La Torre (Lopez). They shared 37 wonderful years of marriage together. Jose was born in Cardenas, Cuba to Timoteo and Maria De La Torre. As a young boy, he and his family emigrated to the US and settled in Vineland. He earned his high school diploma at VHS in 1980. Soon after, Jose chose to serve the country he loved by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. After honorable completion of his service, Jose worked as a Fairton Police Officer and as an employee at Progresso prior to starting his career as a corrections officer. He was an officer for New Jersey State Department of Corrections for 21 years where he was involved with the Special Operations Group, Gang Intelligence Committee and the Honor Guard. Additionally, Jose was a member of Semper Marine Detachment 205. Privately, he was a devoted and beloved husband, supportive father and doting grandfather. In his leisure time, Jose enjoyed taking family vacations, spoiling his grandchildren, fishing, the San Francisco 49ers, fantasy football, watching his niece and nephew play baseball, and riding his motorcycle with friends. Jose is survived by his loving wife Ibet, and his two daughters Latisha De La Torre (Daniel) and Jasmine Rodriguez (Rafiel), his grandchildren Mila Hennis, Mason Hennis, Jelayna Rodriguez, Jayla Rodriguez and Julius Rodriguez; his siblings William De La Torre (Samantha), Marta Rodriguez (David), Efrain De La Torre (Magda) and nieces and nephews. Jose is preceded in death by his parents Timoteo and Maria De La Torre, his brothers Manuel De La Torre, Julio De La Torre and Alfredo De La Torre. Funeral services will be held at DeMarco - Luisi Funeral Home at 2755 S. Lincoln Ave. Vineland, NJ on Sunday, November 14, 2021. Family and friends will be received for the viewing from 1 pm to 4 pm. Marine Corps League and Bayside Honor Guard service to follow. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Semper Marine Detachment 205, Bayside State Prison Honor Guard, and family friends who extended their loving prayers and support during this time.
