Obituary of Dennis J. Burgey

Dennis John Burgey, Sr., 69, of Buena Vista Twp, NJ, passed away on February 28th, 2022 at Inspira Medical Center, Vineland.

Dennis was born in Newark, NJ to George and Carmella Burgey on April 11, 1952. He attended Matawan High School prior to serving in the US Army as Military Police. He worked for Gloucester Township Police Department as a patrolman where he loved serving the community until his retirement. Most recently he was employed by Energy Transfer/Sunoco as an Area Manager-Accounts.

Dennis was known affectionately as "The Doo Wop Cop" for his weekly Friday night radio show, "Streetcorner Serenade" and the many festivals he took part in.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Sandra; his daughter, Andrea (Brian); his sons, Dennis, Jr., Brian, and Jerry (Denine); grandsons William and Jason; sisters Rosemarie (Steve) and Patricia (Jerry); brothers Kenneth and George (Anita); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles and Robert.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 3:00pm until 6:00pm at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Avenue, Vineland. A funeral service will follow at 6:00pm. Interment will be held privately.
