Obituary of Ana L. Gonzalez

Please share a memory of Ana to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ana Lydia Gonzalez, 85, born February 7, 1937, died Saturday, March 19, 2022 surrounded by those she loved most. She was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico to Toribio Montero and Julia Gonzalez. She came to the United States as a young teenager and has since been a longtime resident of South Jersey.

She worked as a seamstress and eventually retired in 1999 as a hotel employee of the Tropicana in Atlantic City. After her many years of hard work, Ana was able to enjoy her retirement years with the activities and people she loved. Ana was known to never turn down a seat at the domino or card table. She was a word search aficionado, often clearing the local Dollar Trees of their book collection. She was also an avid puzzle maker, golf watcher, and animal lover. During the summertime, she was kept on her toes by her granddaughters, enjoying weekly ice cream dates and movie trips with them to the local theater. She also loved to cook authentic Puerto Rican dishes and teach them along the way.

Proud mother to Cynthia Quiñones and her husband, Orlando, and loving step-mother to Carlos Gonzalez and Awilda Abaza. Adoring grandmother of Alyxandria Quiñones, Kristina Quiñones, Sabrina Quiñones, Carlos G. Gonzalez, Carlos M. Gonzalez Jr., Jo-Ann Gonzalez, Irca Gonzalez, James Vega, and Paul Vega. She is also survived by her siblings, Felicita Montero, Jose Montero, Manuel Montero, Ramon Montero, Awilda Montero, Juan Montero, and Sergio Montero. Ana leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She is predeceased in death by her parents and siblings, Concepcion Montero, Efrain Montero, and Francisco Montero.

Ana's infectious smile, sense of humor, and gentle heart will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
