Laurie (Foster) Betts, 46, of Buena, passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

Laurie is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Philip Betts, sons, Brady, Ryley, Chayse and daughter, Brynlie;
parents, Mary G. (Cairone) and Robert Foster, Sr., brother, Robert Foster, Jr. (Tara); parents-in-law, Larain and Thomas Betts, sister-in-law Julie Compton (Christopher) and brother-in-law, David Betts (Nicole); many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Laurie was predeceased by her grandparents, June and Louis Cairone Sr. and Auldice and Robert Foster.

Raised in Newfield, Laurie attended the Buena Regional Schools where she was active in numerous service organizations and played several sports. During her time at Buena Regional High School (BRHS), Laurie implemented the first Mr. Buena competition.

After graduating from Rowan College, Laurie was employed as a fourth grade elementary teacher at Caroline Reutter School in Franklin Township. In her tenured year, she was selected as Teacher of the Year. Additionally, she taught CCD at Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Parish.

Laurie and Phil planted roots in Buena where they raised their children. Using her leadership ability and creativity, Laurie contributed to numerous volunteer organizations. For over 13 years, she gave direction to the Buena Schools' parent- teacher-organizations where she held many of the executive officer positions. Laurie also served on the Buena Regional Education Foundation, the BRHS Project Graduation Committee, the BRHS Booster Club and as a parent liaison for the Buena Tomahawks Baseball Team. Laurie's contributions to the Buena Community were endless, benefiting countless students, athletes and families. Laurie was the recipient of the 2020 Dr. J.P. Cleary Outstanding Community Citizen Award.

Laurie's pride and joy and her greatest accomplishment was raising her children. She often spent time planning unique activities for her family. Many included enjoying days on the river, trips to Florida and Maine. Laurie was an avid reader, loved writing, baking, shopping and decorating her home.

She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. To honor Laurie's memory, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buena Baseball/Softball Association, PO Box 169, Minotola, NJ 08341. Funeral services will be held privately. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland.
