Marie Lorito

Obituary of Marie Lorito

Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Marie Lorito age 94, a resident of Vineland, NJ died peacefully and with grace. We are certain that she was greeted with great fanfare from all of her family and friends that preceded her. Marie was predeceased by her parents, Loretta and Paul Lorito; son, Stephen Burris; brothers, Frank Lorito (Sue Copano) and Benjamin Lorito; son-in-law, Tony Salerno, and nephew, Frank Lorito, Jr.

Marie is survived by 4 of her 5 children, her son, Robert Burris (Kathleen); daughters, Joanna Salerno, Michele Chase and Susan DiMatteo; grandchildren, Dawn Messore, Tina DeSilvio (Nick), Jesse Hall, Elijah Hall, Maria Salerno (Bianca), Peter DiMatteo, Jason DiMatteo (Alejandra), Rita Chase, Cara Chase, and Brendan Chase (Taylor), Jordan Chase; nieces, Loretta Tobolski and Susan Schindler; nephew, Camillo Lorito (Judy) and 17 great grandchildren and the many nieces, nephews and cousins by marriage. We also want to acknowledge cousin Susan Giovinazzi Fio and all of her friends at Luther Acres.

She moved to Cape Coral, Florida in 1977 where she resided until moving back to Vineland in 2006. Before marriage, Marie could be found at Bell Telephone where she worked as a Telephone Operator, her career path then encompassed owning a pizza and sub shop with her first husband, Robert Burris, then to Sears where she worked in the shoe department and finally deciding to go to beauty school to become a hairdresser, which she was for many years. She also was a bartender and later in life she became a care giver and was known to be loving and compassionate to all she served.

Everyone loved her pizza pie Fridays. She would start early in the morning making the dough, letting it rise all day and then in a flash serving 10 pies to family and friends. If you have ever had the gift of tasting one of her pies, you were blessed indeed. Marie was a fabulous cook, keeping her Italian traditions alive with old school Italian dishes.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made sure to tell us she loved us every day. The most memorable thing about her was her love of life. She was the life of every part and loved to dance, go out with friends, crabbing, playing cards and watching her game shows and old movie channel movies.

Even though we will miss her greatly, we rejoice that she is finally with Jesus who she spoke to and prayed to every day of her life!

Family and friends can help celebrate her life from 10am to 11am Tuesday, October 4, 2022 with services following immediately after at 11am at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S.
