Please share a memory of Clarina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Clarina E. Scapellato (nee Van Steyn), 94, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2022 at home after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Vineland and attended Sacred Heart School. In 1950 she married her husband, Peter P. Scapellato, and moved to Forest Grove in Franklin Township where she resided until her death. Clarina was employed by Model Blouse Co. in Minotola, but spent the majority of her life working with her husband on the family farm, Scapellato Farms, until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Parish of St. Michael and spent many years volunteering her time making homemade potato salad for the yearly chicken barbeque at Forest Grove Volunteer Fire Company. Clarina loved cooking and entertaining family and friends for holidays, pool parties, and "meatball Sunday." Clarina always made everyone feel welcome and loved having a house full of family and friends. Clarina took great pride in decorating her house for every holiday and Christmas was her favorite time of the year. Her Christmas tree was always decorated beautifully, and her Dickins Village was perfectly displayed throughout the house. She also enjoyed taking care of her pool, planting beautiful flowers throughout the yard, and driving her John Deere Gator around the farm with the family dog Scooter. Clarina spent many hours in her recliner crocheting ornate afghans and tablecloths, many of which were given to family and friends as gifts. Clarina was predeceased by her parents Magdalena (Mulder) and Nicholas P. Van Steyn, her husband Peter P. Scapellato, her sister Margie Andaloro, brothers Bernard Van Steyn and Nicholas Van Steyn, and "second daughter" Florence Simione. She is survived by her daughter Connie Scapellato; son, Peter Scapellato (Lisa); grandchildren: Sarah Scapellato (Steve McCarron), Paul Scapellato (Cheryl), Thao Scapellato (Sam Sweigart), Lisa Mazzola (Alex); great grandchildren: Paul Jr. Scapellato, Dominic Scapellato, and Carlo Scapellato; Mica Sweigart; sisters: Annie Reale (Frank), Betty Negri, Mary Formisano (John); brother-in law Carlo Andaloro; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
