Obituary of Maria G. Procopio

Maria Grazia Procopio (nee Gerace), 101, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2022.

Born in Montauro, Italy, she moved to Vineland in 1959. Maria was a homemaker who thoroughly enjoyed taking care of her family. Cooking was her passion and her talent. Sundays were the day to gather around her table for a big Italian lunch which, of course, consisted of pasta, meatballs and love. A strong matriarch of her large Italian family, Maria was a beautiful woman who showed unconditional love to all of her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Josephine DiGiorgio; her sons, Frank Procopio (Mandy), Leon Procopio (Fifi), Anthony Procopio (Kathy) and Joseph Procopio (Donna); her son-in-law, Al Cassisi; her daughter-in-law, Stephanie Procopio; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins both here and in Italy.

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, John Procopio; her daughter, Rose Cassisi; her sons, Gregory Procopio Sr. and John Procopio Jr.; her grandson, John Cassisi; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Procopio; her son-in-law, Frank DiGiorgio; her in-laws, Sister Gemma Procopio, Rosa and Nicola "Rocco" Stagliano.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 9am to 10:45am followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11am at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 1010 E. Landis Avenue, Vineland. Entombment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to either the Italian American Benevolent Association, 2486 E. Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08361 or Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN38105.
