Debi,
At your services yesterday when they asked if anyone wanted to speak, I so wanted to honor you. But I did not feel that my words would be adequate. I also realized that everyone there was either family or a friend and that they already knew what it meant to be in your circle.
You have aggravated and needled and pranked me my whole life, and I loved doing the same to you. It was never with malice, but only to make the other laugh and smile, two things that there cannot be enough of. We were literal examples of the saying, “I laughed so hard that the tears ran down my legs”, and I do mean literally.
You were absolutely in the perfect profession because you had an abundance of love to share with those children, and you gave it fully and freely. Invariably when we would be out together, a student would run up to you and hug you and love on “Miss Debi”. It ranged from current students to those who had graduated college and still had a special bond with you. What a legacy.
And your family. The relationship you had with Larry and your children and grandchildren is something that was clearly evident.
You will always be in my heart, and I will always have my memories, but as wonderful as that is, a big piece of my heart went with you. May you rest peacefully my beautiful sister.
Angie
