Obituary of Carmen Nereida Garcia

Carmen Nereida Garcia (Latorre) 84, of Vineland, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2023 surrounded by family. Carmen was born on June 9, 1938 in San Sebastián, PR to the late Basilisa and Jose Marcelino Latorre.

Carmen is survived by her husband, Jose of 57 years; her children, Rachel Alvarez, Evelyn Negron (Louis), Frank Hernandez (Becky), Robert Hernandez (Cindy), Rhoda Romero (Peter), Jose (Lou) Garcia (Mary Ann) and David Garcia (Lucy); 22 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Ana Latorre and Angelita Colon.

Carmen was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family especially her many grandchildren. She was a devout Christian who loved the Lord. She also enjoyed reading with her favorite book being, "My Time in Heaven" a True Story of Dying and Coming Back". Carmen was very fond of birds especially a cardinal that visited daily. They say the vibrant red bird is an uplifting, happy sign that those we have lost will live forever, so long as we keep their memory alive in our hearts. She also loved flowers, her favorite being pink roses.

Carmen will be truly missed by the many lives that she touched.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 10am to 11am with funeral services to follow at 11am at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
