Obituary of Robert E. Johnson

Robert E. Johnson, 73, of Millville passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, February 10, 2023. He was a 1967 graduate of Millville High School. After high school, he enlisted in the National Guard and received his degree in Elementary Education from Glassboro State College. He then went on to obtain his Master's Degree in Education and Administration. Robert worked as a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Science Teacher for 38 years at Maurice River Township Elementary School. Robert is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Linda M. Johnson (Menz); son & daughter-in-law, Michael R. Johnson & Noel Bennett of Vineland; daughter Erin M. Starer & Stephen Weber of Franklinville, son-in-law Curtis Starer & Kerry Tedesco of Swedesboro; grandchildren, Marc Bennett, Rylie Starer, Jack Starer and Ella Starer; father-in-law, Frank Menz; brother(s)-in-law, Rodney Menz (Brenda), Jeff Menz & Glenn Saunders; siblings, Steven Johnson, Barry Johnson and Lin Jones (Gary). Robert also left behind his beloved Shih Tzus, Lucy and Rikki. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Edwin & Herta Johnson; his mother-in-law, Lois Menz and sister-in-law, Diane Saunders. Because Robert was an organ donor, we were able to grant his wishes by working together with the Gift of Life Donor Program. He was able to provide hope to the many men, women and children who are in need of a life saving or life enhancing transplant. Robert and Linda spent their years raising a family, teaching, and traveling the world together. In these travels, Robert fell in love with scuba diving and spent many hours under the sea. He was always the "Science Teacher." In honor of his love for nature, the great outdoors and the deep seas, donations in his memory can be made to the PADI AWARE Foundation (PADI.com-aware).
