Q: Describe where Charles worked and what they did
A: I had Mr. Griffiths (as we called him) as a History teacher for two years. He was a fantastic teacher and
person. I was inspired by him, as I know many of my classmates were.

I was so sad to hear of the passing of Chuck Griffiths. You see he started me on my career as a historian. I was in his famed "history seminar" in my senior year at VHS, 1976, and thanks to his inspiration and advice, I attended the University of Delaware and then went on for my PhD in history at Johns Hopkins University. I've been a history professor ever since, but I've never forgot what I learned in his class or him. I'm ashamed to say that I never went back to thank him for what he did. So I want to thank him now, even if it is too late to see him. I hope he gets this message wherever he is and I want his family to know how much I and many other former students of his remember him

Chuck was my best memory of my Vineland High years. As a mentor, friend and inspiration, he set me on the path of political and civic engagement, which define a large part of my life. I’m so glad we re-connected about 10 years ago (after about 40 years). I send condolences and good thoughts to his family. He was a special person and will always be remembered.

I am a better thinker and understand the political process far better because of Chuck. Our community is a better place to live because of him also.
I loved seeing him at Serene Custard. Will miss him.

Phyllis & family,
We were so sad to hear the news of Chuck's death. He was a wonderful person through and through. My Jessica adored him and always looked forward to his class @ Vineland High. I know he was the best teacher she ever had! As a coworker/friend, Phyllis, I always enjoyed hearing stories about Chuck and the kids. My heart goes out to you at this time. I just recalled how he really liked my pea soup at one of our parties. Bob and I wish you peace & love & strength and hope.
Maryellen & Bob Edmiston

Chuck was a wonderful guy! My favorite memories of him are our dinners at Graziano's with Phyllis and my sister (we were "the sisters" to him). Chuck always greeted us with his winning smile and calm manner. He was an easy conversationalist, probably because he knew so much about so many things, esp American history. Chuck will be missed!

So sad to hear of Mr Griffith’s passing. He was my hs history teacher and a teacher that I will never forget. He actually made you want to come to history class. I know he made a lasting impression on many young lives! May he rest in peace.

I took history classes with Mr. Griffiths at Vineland High School in the late 80s. It wasn't until many years later that I realized how much those classes shaped my thinking throughout my adult life. I credit Mr. Griffiths for cultivating my capacity to think independently, and I think I even still have one of his reading lists! I now hold a Ph.D. and am a dean at a community college. Mr. Griffiths made a tremendous difference in my education, and that of so many students like me. My deepest condolences to his loved ones. - Amy C. Parks

When we were young, long before Goggle, we would rely on Chuck to answer questions.
Can’t remember a name, date, song, stuck on a trivia question, call Chuck, the walking encyclopedia.
He would have us laughing with his comedy skits and imitations.
To my dearest sister, Phyllis and my nephews and nieces, Bob and I extend our deepest sympathy.
“Many a lovely day we knew and
Many a laugh we shared.”
Sincerely
Margaret and Bob Robertson
