Obituary of Carl D Rody

CARL RODY, 71, of Newfield, NJ., loving son of the late Samuel and Mary Rody (nee DiMarino) died after a brief illness on May 10, 2013. Devoted husband of Helen Rody (nee Dulan) for 35 years and father of Shawn Rody, Rosemary Epstein, Roseanne Spross, Kathleen Rody-McGee, Susan Mooney, Samuel Rody, and Carl Rody, Jr. as well as stepfather to Sanford Weed, Jr, Michael Solomon and Patricia Taibi. Carl also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A 1960 graduate of Northeast High School in Philadelphia, Carl was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Forrestal (CVA 59) during the Cuban Missile Crisis in the early 1960's. Carl worked as a mailer for The Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News, The Evening Bulletin, Courier Post and several other publications in the Delaware Valley since 1967 as well as working as a cook and bridge tender for over 15 years for Conrail among many other jobs throughout his life. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 3:00 PM at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave in Vineland, NJ. Relatives and friends may gather from 2pm to 3pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Carl's name to The Cumberland County SPCA, 1244 N. Delsea Dr. Vineland, NJ 08360.
