Rickie L Caudill Sr, 66, of Vineland passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with Stage 4 Melanoma on August 9, 2023.
Rick, as he liked to be called, was born on May 12, 1957 in Inman, Virginia and then during his early childhood his family moved to New Jersey. He graduated from Vineland High School in 1976 and after that attended Cumberland County College where he received an Associate's Degree in Science. He met his beautiful wife, Roberta Caudill (Matthews) and together they had 2 children, Florentine and Rickie Jr.
Rick worked for a few plastics and glass factories including Comar, Friedrich & Dimmock, and JG Finneran. His passion was working for Vineland Public Schools where he started out as a substitute teacher and eventually became an aide at Vineland High School where he helped teach Life Skills to developmentally handicapped students. Rick was a man of complete selflessness. He never put himself first and that showed in not only his work ethic, but also in his day to day life.
In his spare time he loved to ride his Cannondale bicycle on long distances to places like Wildwood, Cape May, Ocean City, and Philadelphia. He also loved to cook on his grill and play with his three beautiful grandchildren. He also enjoyed photography, country music, and his yearly tradition of watching the Tour de France.
Rick was predeceased by his mother, Pauline Caudill; father, Ben Caudill; and his wife, Roberta Caudill (Matthews). Rick leaves behind his two children, Florentine Shropshire, her husband Sean and their children, Riley, Piper, and Clay, of Vineland, and Rickie L. Caudll Jr, and his wife Ashley, of Vineland. He also is survived by his brothers, Benny, Jeff, and Bill along with their wives and children; life companion, Angela Kazmer; and countless friends and coworkers.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4pm on September 14, 2023 at Bellview Winery. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to Melanoma Research in Rick's name to the American Cancer Society.
