Obituary of Ramon Lopez
Please share a memory of Ramon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ramon Lopez, 85, peacefully passed away on 9/12/2023 surrounded by his family. He was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico. Ramon moved to Manhattan in the late 1950's in pursuit of his childhood sweetheart. It was there that he married her and expanded his family to include three daughters. Longing for a better and safer life for his family, he moved them to Hammonton, NJ in the late 1970's.
Ramon was employed as a factory worker and maintenance man most of his life. Most recently, he worked at the NJ State Police Regional Lab in Hammonton until his retirement. Ramon was loved wherever he went and was affectionately called "Papi" by everyone. His work ethic, affinity for jokes/story-telling, and quick smile endeared him to all who knew him. Papi was the best father to his three daughters. His hands were the first to teach them to walk, ride bikes, swim, fish, and his favorite pastime, dancing. He was a dreamer and encouraged his daughters to dream big. He will be remembered as the most loving, funny, well-dressed maintenance man that could literally fix anything. We know that his loving wife, Carmen, awaited him in heaven and they are now together forever.
Ramon is predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Carmen; his parents (Candido and Aurelia); beloved sister, Alicia; and nephew, Roberto; He is survived by his adoring three daughters, Veronica (William) of Dorothy, Sandra (Gary) of Salem, Wanda (Charles) of Vineland; adopted son (Jerry) of Maryland; He is also survived by his BELOVED sisters, Gloria and Candida; his grandchildren, Jay, Jeff (Julie), Teri (Charles); and his many CHERISHED nieces and nephews. Papi will be forever missed by all who knew him.
The Lopez family would like to thank Papi's CNA and the entire NJ Health Hospice family for the compassionate care he received and the support provided to the family.
Services will be private. Before his passing, Papi expressed his gratitude for a life well lived and love for everyone he knew. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in his name, to the
