Robert Frank Sauer, 87, died suddenly on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Williamstown, New Jersey after suffering a devastating stroke.
He leaves his daughter, Cynthia Lee Jones; his son, E.G. Wheaton; his sister, Mary Lou Adelman; his sister, Sophia Noreen Rabin; 9 grandchildren, 8 great- grandchildren, and many close friends and associates.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Henry Sauer and Mary Ellen Sauer nee Symanowicz; his son, Robert Frank Sauer, Jr.; his son, Louis Henry Gonshor; beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Bob was born in Baltimore , Maryland on January 9, 1936 and lived in Baltimore until 1954 when he joined the Marine Corps. He was quite proud of having the privilege of serving his country as a Marine, and applied many of the principles he learned in the Corp to his every day life.
Bob finally settled in the Vineland , New Jersey area around 1968. He owned the Car 'O Matic car wash behind Sears in Vineland for several years. He then established Eastern Truck Rebuilding /ETR Trucking which he operated as sole proprietor until his death.
You could usually find Bob down in his shop, working on a job or one of his project cars or boats, and his many friends and visitors were heartily welcomed there. He always had such a positive and lighthearted attitude, and had his way of making you feel better whenever you spoke with him. He truly cared about his many friends and family, and could always be counted on when you needed a helping hand. He has mentored several young men in his lifetime and has made a real, positive impact on their lives.
Bob was a man's man. He loved life and lived it his way. He was truly one of a kind.
Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 1pm to 2pm, followed by a memorial service from 2pm to 3pm at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland.
He would have appreciated donations to Disabled Veterans or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital in his name.
