Aurea Esther Mendez, age 75, went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on December 11, 2023. She was born on December 20, 1947, in Cayey, PR. Her parents were the late Lt. Col. Domingo Otero and Eugenia Otero. She is also predeceased by her loving husband of 29 years, Rev. Guillermo Mendez. Aurea Mendez was a Vineland resident for over 50 years. Together with her husband, they planted a church in Vineland and pastored under the Church of God, Mission Board organization. Aurea loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, doing search word puzzles and watching baseball. She loved company and being with friends. She loved the Lord and spending quality time with him in prayer and the Bible. Aurea is survived by her children, William H. Mendez (Francisco) of San Fransisco, CA, Esther "Tati" Mendez (Wilton) of Vineland, NJ and Deborah Boyd (Carnell) of Millville, NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley Haddix (Nestor), Meghan Mendez-Brooks (Jalal), Timothy Jones (Betzy), Jeremiah Boyd, and her great-grandchildren Matthew, Caleb and Mason. She is also survived by her sister Mary Muñoz of Florida and her brother George Otero of Bridgeton, NJ and her nieces and nephews Amber, Aaron, and Lucas as well as a host of other loving family members. She is also predeceased by her daughter Elizabeth Jones, her grandson Izaiah Jones, and her siblings Carmen I. Otero, Jose L. Otero, Domingo Otero, Miguel Otero and Aracelis Otero-Adams. Aurea will be missed dearly by her loved ones and everyone that in one way or another was touched by her love and kindness. Funeral services will be private.
