Obituary of Clarissa L Hope

On December 7th 2023, Clarissa L. Hope was called home to rest in God's loving arms. Clarissa was born to the late Kendall and Robert L. Hope Jr on May 15, 1967. Clarissa graduated from Millville Senior High School and later received a certification in business from Harrison Business School.

In October of 1985, Clarissa became the very proud mother to Ashley Nicole Hope who was the love of her life. Clarissa's determination to provide for Ashley encouraged her to seek further advancement in her professional career at Woodbine Developmental Center, where she later retired.

After retirement she enjoyed being a dog mom to Penny Anne Hope, watching her beloved team the Pittsburgh Steelers and becoming a paraprofessional with Vineland School District.

Although diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and later receiving a kidney transplant on November 26, 2001, she remained a courageous, iron-willed woman dedicated to celebrating life. She was a brave role model for her daughter and family and provided strength to others who came in her presence.

Clarissa was a devoted member of Bethany Baptist Church, under the direction of Bishop David G. Evans and was a member of the hospitality Ministry. Clarissa's Christian journey includes Shiloh Baptist Church where she served on the mass choir, pastoral aide and children's ministry. At in His Presence Worship Center she was part of the office staff and served as a deacon.

Clarissa was preceded in death by her parents; oldest sister, Eleanor Nock, and nephew, Robert Harden.

She is survived by her daughter, Ashley Hope (Vineland, NJ); sister/ best friend, Charlene Hope (Millville, NJ); brother, Ralph McDowell (Minnie) (Pittsgrove Twp,NJ); granddaughter, Laylani Rose Harden (Vineland, NJ); nephew, Dana Nock (Valerie) (Raleigh, NC); Frank Nock (Millville, NJ), and niece, Elaine Nock (Millville, NJ); godchildren, James Johnson (Millville, NJ), Kayla and Isaiah Michel (Sicklerville, NJ) and lifelong cousin and friend, Renee Michel (Patrick) (Sicklerville, NJ), Diane Harden Armstead (Leonard) (Millville, NJ) and many great nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 10am to 11am, followed by funeral services at 11am at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville, NJ.
