Obituary of Philip J. Petalino
Philip J. Petalino, 93 of Vineland, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
Phil was a proud American who served his country in the Korean War as a Sergeant in the 1812 Company Ninth Infantry Regiment. His hobbies were playing cards with his buddies and going to the casino. As a youth, he worked cleaning chicken coops, and at a bowling alley setting up pins to support the family which included his deceased brothers, John, Nicky and Tony (Margaret Densten), and his sisters, Florence Lancellotti (James), Mary Marino (Larry), Antoinette DeMarco (Joe), and Angie Bassetti (Frank); and many nieces and nephews.
His jobs included a salesman at Robert Hall Clothing Store where he enjoyed making men and boys look their best. He also worked at Defero Clothing Factory as a presser where he learned to master the pressing machine which led him into a business of his own, "Phil's Cleaners". His pride was making a lifeless garment into a masterpiece.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dolores (Bonato); daughter Terry Hurst (Fred); and granddaughter Brittney Atheras (Drew).
Relatives and friends will be received on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 10:00am until 11:00am at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Avenue, Vineland. A funeral service will follow at 11:00am. Interment will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
The family wishes to thank Angelic Hospice for their care, Visiting Angels, the hospital volunteers who sat with him, and especially Nancy who made his day.
