Obituary of Enid M. Ramos
Enid M. Ramos, 78, passed away at her home in Vineland on March 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Enid was born in Barrio Àngeles, Utuado, Puerto Rico, and later moved to Vineland, NJ, where she joined the Vineland Spanish Assemblies of God Pentecostal Church. During a church service in 1965, she met her future husband, Juan. They were married later that year and remained so for the next fifty-eight and ½ years.
Enid worked for Crown Clothing Company and the Vineland Developmental Center. She loved writing, gardening, and working alongside her husband in their church and radio ministry. She was known for visiting those who were ill or in need, however, her servitude had no limits. Her fondest work was being a wife and mother.
Enid was a firm but loving woman who possessed an unimaginable will to live and love. She was selfless, compassionate, and forgiving and held an unwavering faith in God. Her favorite Bible verse Matthew 6:33 – "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you" (ESV), exemplified her spirit and is evident in her greatest legacy – her children and grandchildren. From her they learned sacrifice and hard work. The generosity she believed her faith demanded, and that her conscience willed, she gave to everyone she encountered. Calling her mom or grandmom is a high privilege.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Juan B. Ramos, Sr.; son Juan B. Ramos, Jr.; daughters Esmirna Ramos, Elizabeth Ramos, and Esther Ramos (Judy); grandson and adopted son Joshua Ramos (Amanda); grandsons Jonathan Roig, Justin Roig, and Josiah Gomez; brothers Amilcar (Sharon) Afanador, Eladio (Nancy) Afanador, and Heriberto Afanador; sisters Luz Miriam Gonzalez, Carmen (James) Padua, and Nilda Custodio; aunt Daisy Collazo, and many beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She is predeceased by her father Alejandro (Matilde) Custodio and her mother Maria Gladys Afanador as well as her brother Luis Enrique Afanador.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 10:00am until 12:00pm, followed by a funeral service at 12:00pm at DeMarco – Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave. Vineland. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
