Lori Aline Markgraf, 52, of Vineland passed away Wednesday, June 26th at the Inspira South Jersey Medical Center. Born in Denver, Colorado, Lori was a lifelong resident of Vineland. She was the daughter of late parents, Marc and Pauline Markgraf, granddaughter of the late Berneice Dargan. She is survived by her sisters, Stephanie Markgraf of Washington, D.C., Sharon Markgraf and her husband John DePasquale, and her niece, Jennifer Abate, all of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Lori worked at the Vineland Development Center for over 30 years. She recently retired as an Executive Secretary to the Medical Director. Lori was fond of animals her entire life, especially her beloved cat, Chai, who lived by her side in life and now will sleep by her side forever. During her earlier years, Lori took pride in her horse, Pal, that she tended and rode daily. She found joy in caring for cats and other animals her entire life. Lori supported several non-profit animal rescue and caring organizations for many years. She had a passion for nautical artifacts and collected glass and porcelain crabs. She enjoyed football and was a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan. Lori loved gardening and her beautiful backyard was an oasis for family, neighbors and friends. Lori loved the ocean and many of her weekends were spent at the Jersey Shore. She loved to travel to the Caribbean and enjoyed beaches in Florida, Aruba, the Virgin Islands, California and Paradise Island. She also enjoyed cruises, most recently a cruise to the eastern Caribbean islands for her niece's college graduation. Funeral services will be private for family. In her memory, contributions may be made to the Cumberland County SPCA, 1244 N. Delsea Dr. Vineland, NJ 08360 or any organization of choice that rescues, protects, or cares for animals. Arrangements are by DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland.
