James A. Forcinito, a man of unwavering honor, dedication, and boundless love, peacefully departed from this world on April 25th, 2024, at the age of ninety. His life was a radiant testament to service, both to his country and his community, leaving an indelible imprint on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.
Born and raised in Vineland, New Jersey, James embraced the virtues of duty and commitment from his earliest days. His journey of service began as he proudly served his nation in the US Army, stationed in Germany alongside his brothers Donny and Rich Forcinito. Returning to civilian life, James continued his noble calling by joining the Vineland Police Department in 1959.
Throughout his nearly three-decade tenure as a Police Officer, James embodied the values of courage, compassion, and professionalism in every aspect of his work. His steadfast dedication to upholding the law and protecting his community garnered him the profound respect and admiration of both colleagues and citizens alike. Beyond his duties, James assumed leadership roles, including the presidency of the National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), serving as a Cumberland County Freeholder, and dedicating several terms to the Vineland City Council, where his tireless advocacy enhanced the lives of countless residents.
In 1988, driven by his unwavering commitment to public service, James assumed the mantle of Sheriff of Cumberland County. In this role, he continued to champion justice and integrity, leaving an enduring legacy of safety and well-being in the communities he served. Later, James transitioned to lead the Vineland Department of Motor Vehicles until his well-deserved retirement in 2004.
Amidst his illustrious career, James found his greatest joy and pride in his cherished family. He leaves behind his beloved wife Patricia (Donoflio) Forcinito and his surviving children Jerrilynn (Reed) Nelson, Keith (Lorraine) Forcinito, Patricia (Glenn) Poeppel, and Jeffrey (Karla) Forcinito. James was preceded in death by his parents James and Helene (Lovegrove) Forcinito, his sister Patty Dougherty, his brothers Ralph, Donald, and William Forcinito, and most recently, his eldest son Brian (Mary) Forcinito. Additionally, he was blessed with eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
James's love and devotion to his family were unwavering, infusing every gathering with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.
James' memory will forever inspire and uplift those privileged enough to have known him. A funeral service to celebrate and honor James's extraordinary life will be held at Cumberland County Veterans' Cemetery on Trench Road in Bridgeton, New Jersey on May 18th at 11:00, where he will find his final rest.
His life was a shining beacon of integrity, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others. Though he may have departed from this earthly realm, his spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were touched by his kindness and generosity. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that his legacy of love and service will endure for generations to come.
