Gisbel Gonzalez, (Chabelo or Eddie to his friends), of Vineland passed away on Thursday July 11, 2013 at the Hospice Center in Bridgeton due to complications arising from a stroke.
Gisbel was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico where he resided until he was 15 then immigrated to the United States in search of better opportunity. He completed his GED and began working in the construction field before focusing his efforts in the field of heating/air conditioning. He worked in this field until his retirement around 1997 when he was permanently disabled due to a heart condition.
Gisbel enjoyed the care and companionship he received at Community Programs of Vineland where not only were his medical needs attended to on a daily basis, but recreational activities he loved such as billiards and domino games were ongoing.
He is survived by his four children from his first marriage, Christopher and Edward Gonzalez of Millville, Kathy Wilson of Mount Laurel, and Joseph Gonzalez of Long Beach, California; his daughter from his second marriage, Erika Sherman from Vineland; his two step-children from his second marriage, Julio Corporan of Vineland, and Kersy Corporan of Newark; his six grandchildren; his wife Purisima Gonzalez of Vineland; and three sisters Daisy, Emelina, and Silvia.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 6:30pm at the DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. Burial will be private. Friends will be received on Monday from 5pm to 7pm at the funeral home. Family and Friends will be received at his home after the service.
