Obituary of Joseph A. Rizzo

Joseph A. Rizzo, 78 of Franklinville, passed away early Saturday, August 3, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Messina, Italy, he moved to Vineland in 1954 and attended Sacred Heart School.

Joe enjoyed being around and making pizzas, starting at the young age of 8. Then in time, he started his own pizza place "Pizza Joe's" in Vineland. Bouncing around after Pizza Joe's, he did concrete for many years for the Union. His love for making pizza brought him to buy another pizza shop "Rita's Pizzeria" in Westville. His love for fishing and crabbing were his favorite things to do. Let's not forget about betting on them horses!

He is predeceased by his parents, Frank Rizzo and Josephine Giocappella; his sister, Amimia Kanos; brother, John Rizzo; and brothers-in-law, Anthony Ventuo and Phil Darrigo.

He is survived by his wife, Georgann (Dreher) Rizzo; daughter, Christina (Rizzo) Barnabei and son-in-law, Michael Barnabei; grandson, Joseph Barnabei; sisters, Theresa Venuto of Vineland, Sue Santina Darrigo of Vineland and Julie Francesconi of Vineland; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may gather Friday, August 9, 2024, from 10am to 11am, with funeral services to follow at 11am, at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. Burial will follow at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 240 N. Tuckahoe Rd. Williamstown, NJ 08094.
