I remember my Aunt as the strong woman and character just as my Grandma. Titi Socorro was the most joyful and strict woman I have ever known. Since she was the oldest female in the family she helped in the house shores. Back then was not easy. Back in the days she had to go down to the river to wash the clothes and to get water for the day. My mother. One of her younger sisters Carmen Nery Cruz Cruz, she told me that Titi Socorro use to line up all of her younger siblings to shower them one by one daily. There were no skipping! They were a total of 13 children including Titi Socorro. From a young age she endured many hard work. That life build her character and mold the woman that she was. In my eyes she will always be an example to follow.
At a young age she left home. Had three beautiful children and all of them are professionals! She was a no back down girl. She never forgot her mom in Puerto Rico. Always communicated. Once Grandma got seriously old she came back to Ciales, Puerto Rico and that’s were she took over. I saw her for the first time. I was 12 years old. I saw her energy. Her independence because she drove! Ok. That was a big thing too. She took over the care of Grandma, Aunt Hilda and Tio Luiso. She in my eyes was the bomb! Her charisma invaded everything that surrounds her. I loved her energy. She use to even take Zumba lessons in addition to all the daily tasks. And loved to go to the beauty salon to have her hair done. Her love of Jesus was vivid. She use to put music and sing to Jesus.
Did I say that she was the most cleanest person. One time I stayed with her and she showed me tricks to clean and even how to fold the fitted sheet!
I know she is organizing heavens as I type all this. She was a great daughter, mother, auntie and human. I send my condolences to my cousins. May the Lord fill your heart with the same strength as Titi had. She will always be in my heart. Always will love her. Her niece Angelica Maria Rodriguez CRUZ.
